Who We Are
Kibale Ventures is a not-for-profit organisation registered in Uganda as Tropical Biological Research Organisation. We connect conservation biology with education, rural livelihoods, research and youth development.
Our mission is “Empowering communities, leaving no one behind.” Our vision is inclusive empowerment for sustainable development in rural communities.
We begin with local knowledge and build partnerships around shared responsibilities and practical opportunities.
Learn About Kibale Ventures
A shared future for people and wildlife
The forests around Kibale National Park support remarkable wildlife. They are also home to families whose lives depend on farming, education and access to opportunity.
Conservation works best when community experience shapes the response. We connect local knowledge with research and partners to support people and the landscape they share.
Schools, sport and practical learning
Our school programmes bring together safe water, nutrition, educational support and youth sports. Amani Sports Programme mentors children aged 6–13, and our sports activities support coaching in seven partner schools.
Since June 2024, the Practical Education Network (PEN) has developed STEM training for teachers in Kamwenge District, including collaboration with Ibanda University and the district local government.

View ProgrammeConservation that considers livelihoods
For families near the park, protecting wildlife and protecting crops are connected concerns. Our Elephant Project explores practical ways to reduce human–wildlife conflict.
Community conservation interests also include ecological monitoring, tree planting, beekeeping and habitat protection. These approaches recognise that healthy ecosystems and viable livelihoods need to advance together.
Agriculture, research and local opportunity
The Ihamba Coffee Project focuses on coffee-growing skills, processing, market opportunities and women’s economic participation. Our Honey Project connects beekeeping with income opportunities and human–wildlife coexistence.
Research that people can use
EcoLab is an online knowledge-sharing initiative covering conservation, tourism and geology. Our research interests also include soil science, biodiversity and carbon emissions. We welcome collaboration that makes findings useful to communities.
